The Directors' Memorial Scholarship was established in 1991 by the members of Golden Spread to honor and memorialize the dedicated service of Golden Spread Directors who were faithful stewards of the Golden Spread family.

The scholarship program has evolved and is available to graduating high school students attending a college, university or technical/trade school in Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Texas. The student must be a family member of one of the 16 Cooperatives served by Golden Spread. The scholarship is $2,000 and is managed by the Opportunity Plan. Continuing contributions by Golden Spread and various individuals throughout the year fund it.

Including the 2024 recipients, the total number of scholarships awarded since 1995 is 136.
